  • We Probably Don't Need To Worry About A Solar Superflare - Newsy

Transcript: Superflares: They're just what they sound like. Solar flares are releases of magnetic energy from the sun's atmosphere. Sometimes — but not always — they bombard Earth with high-energy plasma. Superflares are the same principle, just bigger. Researchers started cataloguing them with the Kepler space telescope a few years ago. They're easy to spot, even on distant stars, since they crank out about 10,000 times more energy than normal flares. And in a new study published in Nature, researchers say the sun is capable of emitting a superflare of its own — even if that's unlikely. Most superflares come from stars that are more magnetically active than our home star, but about 10 percent of the superflare examples researchers analyzed came from stars with similar or even weaker fi...

  • Solar FREAKIN Roadways, are they real?

Solar FREAKIN roadways is a nice idea, but then again is a pogostick that can hop to the moon as a cheap, reusable trans-orbital vehicle. Is it plausible though. Well it basically proposes the union of 3 or 4 technologies. LED lights, solar panels, and glass roads. Glass really isn't a feasible material to make roads out of. 1) its too expensive. Just coating the US road system with roads would cost many times the federal budget. 2) Its too soft. Even with a textured surface for traction, it will wear away too quickly. Dirt on roads is basically small rocks, which are generally much harder than glass. Imagine taking a handful of dirt and rubbing it a window. Now imagine doing that with the wheels of a 20 ton tractor/trailer. 3) I have doubts about the physical properties of the gla...

Looks like the Nevada UFO, recently photographed at the end of October 2015, is probably a solar array. Subscribe for more strange and unsual news! ShantiUniverse: https://www.youtube.com/user/shantiuniverse Emil Enchev: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSdiac5BLasT4x3hEFol2-Q This was first put forward by ShantiUniverse in the comments section, who hosts a great channel. You should check it out, a link will be in the description. It was later put forward again by Emil Enchev, who provided further proof that it was not a UFO but a solar array. Again, a link to his channel will be in the description. For the record, I am not saying it is not a true UFO, I am just saying that with the evidence provided to me, it seems unlikely. Here you can see the photograph of the UFO, which has appeared in a lot of media outlets lately. Here you can see the Nevada solar array named the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project. Take a close look at the shape. It has the same tail section as the structure in the photo which is said to be a UFO. They both are the same shape. In the same location. So the chances that they are the same object, is pretty high, given that they are such a unique shape and colour. It is also worth noting, as pointed out wisely by Shanti Universe, that the reflection from the solar panels is creating glare in the glass of the airplane window, giving out an effect as if light is emerging from the solar array. So it looks like it is not a UFO, in my opinion. Sometimes photographs like this are just too good to be true. From now on, I will make a greater effort to look more closely at the UFO pictures I post. This will not always be possible right away, but I will reflect on them, and if they turn out to be something else, then I will make a video on them. Most superflares come from stars that are more magnetically active than our home star, but about 10 percent of the superflare examples researchers analyzed came from stars with similar or even weaker fields. The closest thing we've ever seen to a superflare from the sun is probably the Carrington Event. In 1859, the sun launched a flare so energetic it damaged Earth's ozone layer and set telegraph offices on fire. Experts say a flare that powerful today could do billions of dollars in long-term damage to satellite networks and electrical transformers. Those aren't the sort of things we keep plenty of spares for. And Carrington was a relatively weak example compared to the energies involved in superflares. The good news, according to the researchers, is our solar activity records show these events only come along every millennium or so. What's more, we would probably see unprecedented sunspot activity beforehand, so at least we'd know it's coming. From ESOCast. Astronomers have accurately measured the size of the remote dwarf planet Eris for the first time. They caught it as it passed in front of a faint star. Eris also seems to be extremely reflective, probably because it is covered in a thin layer of frozen atmosphere. Occultations are rather like eclipses —the background star disappears behind the object and reappears on its other side. As viewed from Earth, the brightness of the background star suddenly drops and then returns equally suddenly to its previous level. By looking at these two events, astronomers can measure the size and shape of the occulting foreground object. If they also know the mass of this object they can then determine its density. The occultation technique has now enabled astronomers to learn a lot more about the dwarf planet Eris. Eris was identified as a large object in the outer Solar System in 2005. Its discovery was one of the factors that led to the creation of a new class of objects called dwarf planets and the reclassification of Pluto from planet to dwarf planet in 2006. Eris is three times farther from the Sun than Pluto at the moment, and until now was believed to be about 25% bigger. But the new observations show that Eris is in fact almost exactly the same size as Pluto, with a diameter of around 2330 kilometres. Because Eris also has a moon, called Dysnomia, astronomers have also been able to calculate the mass of Eris by a careful study of this moon's orbit. Using the new diameter and known mass, they then calculated the density of the Eris, which now appears to be greater than astronomers had previously thought. Eris seems to be a rocky body surrounded by a thick mantle of ice. The dwarf planet turns out to reflect almost all of the light that falls on it — its surface is even brighter than fresh snow on Earth. Eris is probably covered in a very thin layer of frozen atmosphere that is likely to consist of frozen nitrogen mixed with methane. It is probably the result of the freezing of Eris's atmosphere as the dwarf planet's elongated orbit takes it far away from the Sun. These important new observations, made with relatively small telescopes, have allowed astronomers to measure Eris's properties better than ever before. This is another step towards understanding the mysterious objects that lie in the remote parts of our own Solar System.

April 1, 2017: I revisit a couple of videos of mine most of you have not seen. I demonstrate how I once used a HAARP instrument to LISTEN to space weather and space phenomenon. It wasn't long after I made this discovery, it was taken OFF-LINE....no longer available to the public....imagine what we could have learned by now if we still had access to that instrument. It was a JEWEL, a fabulous tool!!! Taught me a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWgrGGUrYew https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CnNwGiRVy_s http://www.gi.alaska.edu/instruments/induction-magnetometer #MrMBB333 **Follow me** Website: https://www.mrmbb333.com YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/user/MrMBB333 (Subscribe for Updates) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pg/MrMBB333 Twitter: https://twitter.com/MrMBB333 Google+: https://plus.google.com/+MrMBB333 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mrmbb333

This is probably the hardest solo, rhythmically, that I've ever done. Here it is, Bill Evans solo from Solar. The transcription is pretty solid, I would encourage people to check it out and steal some of these great rhythms!!! I did my best on the play through, and hopefully, did it justice? haha. Nick Hodgson explains why individuals should study, plan and prepare for such a likely event, in order to avoid great hardship and hunger. Life insurance and protection requires many different approaches and this is probably one worst case scenario you have not thought of but need to. Whether it's an atmospheric nuclear EMP from the Sun or a bomb. It is best to be aware of what can and will happen one day quite probably in your life time.

What is solar cooking and how can it be a sustainable solution for the world? Ph.D. student Matthew Alonso explains. We've all probably seen some form of solar cooking. Many of us made solar ovens out of cardboard boxes as a science experiment as a kid. Now, researchers at the University of Illinois are turning that simple idea into a live-saving innovation.

A look at the current solar cycle, solar cycle 24. Solar has (probably) been reached, but the video looks at where the solar cycle may be heading next. The video also compares solar cycle 24 with solar cycle 5 and attempts to look at the next solar cycle, solar cycle 25 and the possibility that it may compare to solar cycle 6. Solar cycles 5 and 6 were during the Dalton Minimum when the UK and Europe experienced many cold or severe winters. Further updates on solar cycle 24 and solar cycle 25 will follow so keep checking back to my channel and my website.

There's a small possibility that Mars may have once had oceans, and an even smaller possibility that it might have harboured life. But in terms of complex life, in terms of habitability, Earth was the guy who shouted first, right? Wrong. If you were to visit Venus today, you would encounter a hellish world that would crush, burn and choke you the moment you step foot on it. Scientists at NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies have used a computer modelling system to predict the future of climate change on Earth. If life was able to once exist on Venus, complex life may have had time to arise from it given that the planet probably contained liquid water and it remained habitable for a billion or possibly billions of years.

This video gives a simple but compelling introduction to solar energy. Did you know that all of the energy we use comes from the sun,? You probably know that’s true for solar panels, but the sun is also the ultimate source for energy generated by wind, water, and fossil fuels. 3) I have doubts about the physical properties of the glass to take the load and mechanical heat stress required of a road making material. Solar panels under the road is a bad idea from the start. If they are under the roads, they are hard to maintain. They will have reduced light from parked cars etc. They are fragile. Not really congenial to the conditions you are likely to get on a road. In many ways building a shed over the road, or just having solar panels by the side of the road is a far better idea. However the power transport really isnt practical. One of the most efficient ways to transport electricity around is as high voltage AC. However to build those lines would probably double the cost of any construction. To bury the cables is even more expensive. LEDs for variable road marking have been partially implemented. They are usually only cost effective in dynamic traffic management systems. For most roads its utterly pointless as the road markings almost never need to be altered. These LED are usually not easy to see (especially in full daylight when the solar panels are meant to be generating power). However solar powered roadways has generated well over a million dollars for Julie and Scott Brusaw (a therapist and an engineer). I'm still on the fence as to if they are just delusional dreamers or (now millionaire) con artists. A lot of this looks like just direct 'what if' daydreaming, but then you get the part of the promotional video where they are shoveling ground up coloured glass into a wheelbarrow, while narrating that they use as many recycled materials as possible in this project. It's very difficult to not see that as a direct lie. They must know full well that they did not use any of that material in the construction of their glass tiles. Get additional information about solar energy by visiting these websites: Greendiyenergy Solar,Wind Energy DIY Guide http://bit.ly/1eigJVV Green Powered Home http://bit.ly/17N09IN Stirling Power Plant http://bit.ly/18PYwKz Transcript: You probably have a lot of questions about solar energy. I probably won't be able to answer them all in this video, but I'll give you some basic facts so you can get a better idea of how it may be useful to you in everyday life. But, you should be aware that there are both positive and negative facts about solar energy to consider. Let's start with the answer to a basic question: what is solar energy. Solar energy comes from the light of the sun, not from heat. so even cold climates can produce power when the sun is shining. One of the most interesting positive facts about solar energy is its huge potential. The amount of sunlight that comes to earth in a single day - if it could be harnessed - would supply all the electricity needs for every human being on the planet for an entire year. Also, solar is a renewable energy resource that will last for a couple billion more years. We never run out. One of the most important facts about solar energy is that it doesn't hurt the atmosphere. It doesn't pollute or generate carbon dioxide, which a lot of people believe is changing global climate - and not for the better. There's also no noise pollution with solar energy. Electricity is created silently when sunlight hits a solar panel. The sunlight reacts with materials in the panel to produce an electrical charge. This charge can be converted to direct current (DC) to be used in homes. If a home with solar panels generates more power than the home uses, the homeowner may even be able to sell some of the excess to a power company for use on its electrical power grid. Electricity created by home solar energy can be used in dozens of ways - just like electricity from the power company. Heating water, running appliances and providing light are all possibilities for home solar energy. By making your home energy independent in this way, you also make your country more energy independent - freeing it from the need to import oil from other countries. When you have home solar energy, you don't need to worry about power outages - or rate increases by your utility company. Another of the more interesting facts about solar energy is its potential in the transportation industry, although admittedly, practical solar applications for mass transit in the U.S. are probably years away. Solar technology for cars has been developed, but it's not nearly advanced enough for the needs of modern vehicles yet. However, it's interesting to note that a couple of years ago a small aircraft powered strictly by solar energy flew across the entire United States. So those facts are about solar energy that sound positive and promising, But there are other facts that you need to understand.. For one thing, solar panels take up a lot of space. That means solar energy "farms" would have to be huge to provide a significant percentage of a large city's electricity supply. There's also large investment or up front cost to installing solar - especially in a home. It can take years to recover your investment, even though solar equipment is nearly maintenance-free once it's installed. Plus, some geographical areas are more suited to solar power than others. If you live in an area where it's gets cloudy a lot, solar energy may not be sufficient for your needs. Furthermore, your output from solar panels will be reduced if they are shaded by trees or other structures.
